Purple Hibiscus, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is a novel about a family
who experience with war is outside their home and also inside their
home. The purple hibiscus represents the new time rather then the red
hibiscus which can symbolize violence. Kambili's father papa is very
religious and strict on the way he handles his family. Kambili and her
brother JaJa fears their father so much they never want to disappoint
him however when they do mistakenly disappoint him he beats them.
Growing up not really religious i wouldn't know hands on experience what
it is like to have strict and religious parent/s. Kambili and her
brother visits their Aunt and gets a whole new experience with morals
and values and whats wrong and right even though their father was not
there they still think about what he would do to them if they didn't
follow the schedule that he provided them with and it takes them a while
to actually open up. The mother of Kambili and JaJa is also apart
getting beat and eventually she takes steps into her own hands
personally If It was me and i reached my breaking point i would have
handled the situation the same or similarly because everything they went
through enough was enough and she had to protect her family. Do you
believe being strict and abusive have to do with religion sometimes? Is is morally okay being abusive when Its your religion? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVVNViwGfj0

I do think the very religious do tend to have abusive traits as they want everyone around them to believe the same thing they do so when people have opposing views, things tend to get out of hand.
