Fences~ August wislon

In Fences by August Wilson one of the main themes is still focused on the race of people. The time the book was set which was in the 1950s America had came a long way from being segregated however things like pro sports was past that. Troy the main character in the play has a son named cory, cory is good in sports. connecting this book to Oedipus can be done because in one scene troy tries to set up corys fate by telling him that hes black so hes not going to ever make it to the big league not knowing that things are eventually going to change and the world is going to become more segregated then ever. Every character in this play is African American and must deal with racism everyday because the south was still pretty much segregated.

  1. However has fate had Cory going into the military instead. Do you think that was because Troy always over powered him so why not take orders from someone else or was it just to be stronger than his father ever was?
